Funding For TiE

Funding for Theatre Education is an important factor to take into account as when travelling, you need to work out how much you can spend on the cost of travelling as well as for paying the staff, buying necessary equipment and props and hiring rehearsal space.  The West Yorkshire Playhouse’s production of ‘The Worm Collector’ (link) for example, was funded by The Home Office Community Fund, Education Leeds and supported by The Royal Armouries.  I thought that is was rather strange for the Royal Armouries to be supporting a piece of Theatre In Education so I researched into why they did and found that they offered some of their expertise on weapon awareness (source).  I also looked into why the Home Office funded ‘The Worm Collector’ and found that they fund things to do with preventing knife crime gangs and guns (source).  There was a document attached which contains the successful applicants list which I also saved and can be found here and here.
