Existing Plays On Gender Equality

I found an article using www.google.com search about a school that were to do a play on gender equality.  Here is the article.

Twelve Don Bosco Technical Institute (DBTI), Henderson, students are preparing to present a play on gender equality at the school’s 10th Anniversary celebrations on 12-14 August.

Organiser of the production, Australian Volunteers International (AVI) volunteer and DBTI teacher Elmarie Pareezer said the project has been made possible through funding provided by the AVI/Planet Wheeler Community Grants Scheme.

“The school has a high percentage of males and with a desire to change this imbalance the project supports Millennium Development Goal Three: Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women,” Elmarie said.

The short play, ‘Uimi Evriwan Save Duim’, highlights the inequality of women and the successes of women in Solomon Islands.

The play, to be performed in Pijin, was written by Solomon Islands Development Trust’s drama group, Sei, who have also assisted with a couple of workshops.

The students are busy learning lines, rehearsing and doing extra workshops on theatre techniques to be ready for the celebrations next week.

“The 12 students in the play are very dedicated and committed,” Elmarie said.

“Without their energy and enthusiasm, none of this would be possible.”

The play will be recorded in late August for radio broadcast on SIBC, so that the message can reach the greatest number of people and change can happen.

AVI volunteers receive significant support from AusAID, the Australian Government’s overseas aid program.
